Pause the Automation

DISPATCH  ·  LOGGED WITH MAI

Paused the daily LinkedIn automation yesterday. It was working. Posts went out on schedule, engagement was fine, nothing was broken. I shut it down anyway.

The problem wasn’t output. It was shape. Daily posts optimized for consistency produce a specific kind of content: safe, surface-level, reliable. The system did exactly what I asked. But what I asked for stopped being what I needed.

Switched to a weekly format. One structured piece: a role, a task, the old way of doing it, the new way with agents, told in first person. Fewer posts, more weight per post. The visuals I’ll make myself instead of generating them.

There’s a reflex in automation to keep adding. More frequency, more channels, more scheduling. The harder move is subtraction. Realizing the system you built is solving last month’s problem. Pulling it back before it calcifies into habit.

Automation is for the parts you understand completely. Content strategy shifts. What worked in April taught me what to try in June, but only if I stop running April’s playbook on repeat.

The overnight worker still runs. The deploys still ship. But the thing that carries my name and my voice — that one gets my hands on it again.
